The shadows reach far; the Elves of Greenwood are driven from Alfheim, banished for meddling in the darker side of the Arts, for their behaviour unbecoming of an Elf.
They dwell now in Svartalfheim, where the dark and the fallen Elves live, and here is where Legolas was raised for going on 600 years. Those who have anything to do with Elves fear that the this same fate will befall the country of Lorien, and soon, too, Rivendell. But the Elves of what was once Greenwood keep to themselves.
And now, they serve only Mirkwood.

They brought him back from Martel, two years after the incident.
The last thing he remembers seeing is sand drifting around him, disturbed by his own fall. His hand had reached out in the direction of Alma's grave, but he never told them where he (where she) was. He would not tell them, so they used him instead. They brought Mugen out of storage and dismantled it into pieces; he would not cooperate and make it revert into its raw state, so they used the shards for implantation.
Weeks later, he's back on the field, his memory supposedly wiped clean.
God has nothing to do with it, and he fights for a world forsaken.

The first thing he remembers is the inside of a tank. He's lying down and it's bright outside. He remembers breathing, remembers the scientist who looks so much like him and the scientist who took a liking to him. Viceroy, and the Bloody Red Queen.
There was blood when his horns came in for the first time, and the second time, and the third time. By the fourth time he'd gotten the hang of it, healing his flesh as it was broken from inside. He was their Wolf in sheep's clothing, their offering as a peace treaty. He defected before long.
They created him. Now he's creating the plan to reverse it all, to end what has been done.
